FAQ
How does the linear cutting calculator work?
It solves the one-dimensional cutting stock problem with a best-fit decreasing heuristic: parts are sorted largest first and placed on the bar where they fit tightest, which keeps the number of bars and offcut waste low.
Is the cutting optimizer really free?
Yes. The tool is free, needs no sign-up and runs entirely in your browser, so your data stays on your device.
What is kerf and why does it matter?
Kerf is the material turned into sawdust by each cut. Enter your blade width and the calculator reserves it between parts, so the cutting plan works in the real workshop.
